Review: LED Apple's 'With the Wind' is a Showcase of Lead Singer Hanbyul's Amazing Vocal Talents

As many fans of Korean pop-rock band LED Apple already know, they are one of the music industry's hidden treasures.

A talented group of musicians featuring all the standard performers - guitar, drums, bass, and keyboard with a seriously gifted lead singer Hanbyul thrown in for good measure - LED Apple is one of South Korea's best kept secrets.

The group released their latest single "With the Wind" on November 4 and the song takes on a different feel than their past releases.

A sentimental ballad track, "With the Wind" is a grand showcase of Hanbyul's incredible range, impressive tone and vocal control.

The music video is fairly standard musical performance that highlights LED Apple's position as a band as opposed to the mainstay K-Pop idol groups' choreographed dance routines.

With a heavy use of fog machines and lights, LED Apple are able to give off a rockstar vibe even though the song itself is a gentle rock ballad.

On the group's official YouTube page, many fans have expressed their feelings about the new track - mostly positive with the only real complaints being that "With the Wind" and the accompanying music video focus entirely too much on Hanbyul seemingly shoving the other four members in the background.

But that is precisely what makes "With the Wind" such an impressive song to begin with. Hanbyul is able to shine in the track whereas in previous LED Apple releases, his talents were hidden amongst the fanfare and overproduction of the music videos (this summer's "Bad Boys" is a great example of that).

Since the beginning of the year the members of LED Apple, and most specifically Hanbyul, have been releasing a series of cover songs - one a week - to help raise money for the Save the Children charity foundation. The project is known as Music Note and money is made for the charity through the advertisements on the page.

The majority of the tracks have been rearrangements by Hanbyul and as much as the videos have served to help starving children across the planet, they have also helped bring the band's lead singer into the limelight as a voice that begs to be heard.

It only seems fitting then, that LED Apple would choose to ride the Hanbyul wave with a delicate showcase of his incredible talent.
